Coachford N.S. is a Health Promoting School

On Thursday the 19th of June, Dan Healy a professional chef and parent of the school visited  to give all the children of Coachford N.S. a cookery demonstration and kindly sponsored all the necessary ingredients. He prepared a meal with each class group including a fruit salad with the infant classes, smoothies with first and second classes, pasta with third and fourth classes and some wholegrain pizzas with our senior classes. It was a fantastic occasion and the children went home stuffed with food and loads of ideas for healthy snacks to eat throughout their summer holidays.

Food Tasting Afternoon

In conjunction with our Skip-a-thon which was held during Active School Week, Murphy's Centra Coachford kindly donated some fruit for the whole school to taste after their exertions from skipping. The children also enjoyed some themed Fridays which focused on children bringing in a specific fruit or vegetable every Friday during term three. The aim of this was to taste a new fruit while reducing the intake of sugary snacks.

Food Dudes

All students are engaged in the Food Dudes healthy eating initiative this year. The children try new fruit and veg every day and receive rewards. Everybody is really enjoying being healthy at school!
