Extra Curricular Activities
The pupils of Coachford NS participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.
Some of the activities on offer include;
Drama: The children enjoy weekly drama classes with a specialised drama teacher. All classes perform a variety of plays and musicals which take place at Christmas in the GAA Community Hall, Coachford. Classes also perform Choral Verse Speaking at Feis Maitiú and Cór Fhéile.
Music
School Choir: Children from Third to Sixth Classes may sing with the choir. The choir performs at Christmas, at school masses and competes in Feis Maitiú.
Tin Whistle: All children from first to Sixth Classes have an opportunity to learn the tin whistle. The tin whistle band performs at various school functions and also in the City Hall for the Cór Fhéile.
Physical Education
Pupils have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of individual and team sporting activities which include gymnastics, swimming, hurling, camogie, football, soccer, spikeball and athletics. School Teams participate in a number of primary school sports events. During the third term we hold an Active Week and Sports Day to encourage fun and participation in physical activity and to nurture healthy eating and exercise habits. The school community is also working towards becoming a ‘Health Promoting School.’
