Boys Football 2013
We commenced training as soon as we returned to school. We trained for a couple weeks and then we had our first away match to Gaeilscoil Douglas. Unfortunately we lost that match but we went home with our heads held high. Then we had our second match away to Ballinspittle. We won that match in a tough encounter. We then had our first home match against local rivals Canovee so we were ready to rumble. In what was a titanic struggle we eventually came out with a narrow vicotry. We trained especially hard after the Canovee win because we knew if we beat Ballygarvan in our next game we had a great chance of going through to the semi final. That game was tough but we won. Then we played against St Mary’s Enniskeane. We won that game also in a free flowing game with a lot of brilliant scores. We continued to train hard and finally the semi final was upon us. We were up against Blarney. That was the toughest game we had played so far. We fought until the final whistle and we just edged in front with a couple minutes to go to win the game and thankfully qualify for the Sciath na Scol final.
Our training since the start of the year really paid off. We trained for 40 minutes sometimes three or four days a week during lunch time with Mr. Horan and Mr. Flynn. We went to Pairc Ui Chaoimh to play Gaelscol Midelton in the Sciath na Scol DF3 final. The game was very close and the sides couldn’t be separated in normal time but thankfully when the final whistle blew in extra time we were on the right side of the scoreboard. We went and collected the trophy and spent the rest of the day celebrating. After the win each player got to take the trophy home for a night to show it to their families. We could not thank Mr. Horan and Mr. Flynn enough for training us and now we hope that we can win the hurling final later in the year to make it a great double for Coachford National School.

Girls Football 2013
During the Sciath na Scol competition we played various teams from all over the county. We played against the girls from Gaeilscoil Douglas, Ballinspittle, Canovee, Ballygarvan and St Mary's Enniskeane. Before every match we did a warm up. We practised hand poassing and kick passing the ball. The captains would go up and shake hands with the captain of the other team. The referee would toss a coin and the away team would get to chose heads or tails and the winner got to pick which way they wanted to play. We trained every Tuesday and Friday at lunch time with Mr. Horan and Mr. Flynn.
I liked travelling to different places to play all the matches. I liked the training because we always got out in the fresh air and they were lots of fun. I love playing football with my friends and having fun playing games. I didn't like some of the bus journeys though because they took so lon. We didn't qualify for the final but the boys did and thankfully they won it. I'm really looking forward to starting training for the camogie competition which will be starting this month.
